The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard is an organisation composed entirely of volunteers. Formed in 1961, its aim is to promote safety in the operation of small craft.
Victorian Volunteer Coast Guard was looking to innovate its operations using existing dispatching equipment and new media technologies. This session will outline how Vic Volunteer Coast Guard when through the process of upgrading their large coastal coverage radio infrastructure and the lessons learned as a volunteer group. Also its approach to using mobile media to make the task of monitoring the boating public easier and quicker to respond to in emergency situations.
