NSW Rural Fire Service
The Director ICT leads a team responsible for the development, implementation, provision and support of technology and services, including the strategically important and spatially enabled multiagency Incident Management system (ICON) developed and hosted by the RFS. Other services delivered by the team include SAP and applications support, applications development, GIS and infrastructure technology. All these services deliver highly availability and redundancy across several data centres and the cloud.
An erstwhile professional musician, Matthew has 30 years of experience in IT. Starting in applications design and development, Matthew has largely held roles as a consultant, specialist, trainer and practitioner in the areas of architecture, applications design and development, infrastructure design and implementation, program and portfolio management, and management consulting.
Before coming to the NSW Rural Fire Service (RFS), Matthew trained managers and teams, worked, delivered and managed these services and consulting at local, regional and global levels — consulting into some of the largest and best-known organisations around the world.
Matthew has 10 years’ experience managing and improving ICT services within the RFS. He holds several degrees, among the most relevant for this position are a Master of Science and a Master of Business Administration. He has published several articles and books — in several languages — in the subjects of computing, linguistics and music theory.
